Guide to what mums really want for Mothers Day

Saturday, 29 March 2014

Is it a mere coincidence or a Cosmic Joke that the clocks go forwards, on Mothers Day?  Universe, you have one sick sense of humour.

I find it somewhat apt that the majority of things that a mother really wants on Mothers Day generally involve a noticeable lack of actual mothering.   That inner war of where you want to spend the day blissfully alone yet you feel you should be the good mother and spend the day with the exact same self created little army that you want to hide from.

So what do mums really want for mothers day?

well sure, if you're splashing the cash diamonds, weekend away, meal out and all that jazz, go for it but I've drawn an extremely technical and complex diagram to explicitly and extensively relate to those holding the wallet what Mums actually really want on Mothers Day.

Observe:

Don't worry if the complexity befuddles you, I have a back-up:

And there you have the crux of how to effectively spoil a mother on Mothers Day.

Optional stereotypical extras:

Chocolates
Flowers
Shoes! (Must be agonisingky pretty and criminally impractical)
Yarn
Gift Vouchers
A night with Mr Northman (whaa? It was worth an ask!)

We have a very limited budget here, generally around a fiver.  For me though it's the little things like a lie in, breakfast in bed (BACON) and something home made by the kids be it a card or picture.

It really is the little things that make it special.

Like having a bath without a minion coming to shit in the loo at the same time. I know, I'm dreaming big.

  4. What is it about kids having a shit as soon as you get in the bath? It's like their bowels kick in as soon as they hear bubble bath mix going in the tub!
